About
Lance Maidlow
Has been blessed with a wealth of life experiences ranging from spending a year hitch hiking through Europe, two long seasons performing Canadian Arctic research, civil engineering experience ranging from initial deployment and testing of the first release of SWMM (storm water management model), flood plain mapping and damage mitigation, irrigation, municipal engineering, regional water and sewer systems and early CAD and GIS application development which led to the formation of his own company Kanotech Information Systems.
Through these experiences, he has had the unique opportunity to develop and apply CAD and GIS technology to a variety of industries including local governments, provincial and state governments, power transmission and distribution, cable management, oil and gas pipeline management, transportation modeling, light rapid transit, crime mapping and analysis, disaster management and facility management to name a few.
After selling Kanotech in 1999, Lance accepted consulting assignments with Autodesk Inc. (local government industry manager) as well as managing projects for major Autodesk clients including Pinellas County FL. He relocated to Florida in 2003 where:
- He has worked with his son Darrin to architect and deploy Landor’s web based RADE technology in disaster management, crime mapping and analysis, utilities and oil and gas deployments.
- Was a founding partner in Open Spatial Inc. (now Munsys Inc.) and
- Most recently acted as a sub consultant to Parson’s for the Pinellas County Utilities data normalization project.
In 2009 he was recruited to lead the ChasmTech team in its endeavor to architect and integrate emerging field deployed smart technologies with back office applications in real time. Achieving this integration is a fundamental requirement if organizations are to achieve maximum benefit from their investment in GIS databases.
